These photos were taken by me during the exhibition by Calligraphy Club in Seng kang CC in 2013 to 2015. The standard of the pieces that I shown here are of national level, or even international level, in my opinion. The drawing art piece could easily cost a few thousand dollars. Calligraphy art pieces are generally less expensive than the drawing art pieces.

I will think that this is because most people can appreciate the drawing, but not Chinese Calligraphy. Moreover, much more time are needed to produce a drawing. All these were created by members of the club. The place 'crouching tiger hidden dragon' (此地卧虎藏龙)。 They are the 'Master'. I can only pour ink, fold the papers and wash the brush (luckily, not test tube) for them. Application for the post of book-boy (书童) was rejected due to ... similar to mid-career crisis. Really have to wait long long to have this kind of standard. Sorry, correction - it should be work hard long long ...

沈观汉: This fellow is a 鬼才. He can write Chinese calligraphy in reverse position (反过来写). What I mean is – if you are sitting with him by facing each other, he can write the character in reverse and you can read the character as per normal. He is also a master in seal (印章) carving (篆刻). He conducts calligraphy lesson every Saturday’s morning in Seng Kang CC.

The yearly exhibition is generally held in the month of May.

To learn Chinese Calligraphy, you must be willing to spend time and work hard on it. It is a learning journey without, quite a destination, where you can say that you've reached there. It is good to sign up for a short course of 3 months or so to get an appreciation of it. Then, you can decide whether you will '回头是岸' ☺ Or just take it easy, which means that your standard will remain stagnant (like me ☺).
